Lukas Bondevik held the framed picture, staring sadly at the bright eyes of the person in the photograph. It has been 4 years and he still remembered that person's laugh, smile at the back of his head. He could never forget it.

He placed the frame down on to his work table before he would start reminiscing of his painful past once more. He massaged the temple of his head and pinched the bridge of his nose in distress.

A soft, polite knock interupted him. He mumbled for the person to come in. The white door slid to the side, revealing a timid black-haired male.

"Excuse me, Bondevik-san?" He called out with a polite bow. Lukas shook his hand, gesturing his acquintance to not bow at him.

"What is it Kiku?" Lukas asked, eyeing the Japanese doctor apprehensively.

"Would you mind checking on a patient in exchange of Yao-san? He needs to go on a meeting outside of the hospital." Lukas merely nodded in understandment of his fellow colleague.

"Understood." He stoicly mumbled as the other doctor took a glance of his watch.

"Oh my! I am also running late! Sayonara Bondevik-san!" Kiku Honda bowed in respect once more and swiftly left the room, heading to the parking lot where he would need to go to a meeting with Yao Wang, one of the senior founding doctors of the hospital.

Lukas started to clean up his desk, placing the pens back to its original place and arranging the scattered paper work into a neat pile. He also took his important medical instruments that were needed to check up patients as he draped his white coat over his formal blue striped shirt and his pants.

It was just another day for Lukas Bondevik.

---------------------------------------------------------

Lukas knocked on the door of his patient's room. He could hear a barely inaudible 'come in' and so he did. The smell of disinfectants stung his nose. Even after almost 3 years of working in a hospital, he could never get used to the sterile smell of the rooms.

He walked over, across the patient's bed to retrieve her records. He skimmed through it quickly before placing it back. Seemed to be a normal case of shock and minor injuries on her head and arms.

"Are you here for a check-up?" She asked as Lukas wrote her latest conditions on a paper. He checked for any abnormalities in the machine connected to the girl.

"Yes." was only his answer. The silence before he entered the room came back in a roll and a thick blanket of awkwardness set it. The only sound that could be heard was the steady beeps that came from the heart monitor.

"I lost my parents." Lukas heard a faint whisper. A whisper that came from the patient herself. She sat down straightly, staring at the emptiness in front of her. Lukas stayed quiet, wondering why the girl would start talking about losing her parents for no reason. It had nothing to do with him.

"It was my fault. If only I didn't distracted my parents while they should be concentrated on the road." She started to sob. Tears welled up on her eyes or so he thought. The girl's bangs covered her eyes, blocking a clear look of her eyes.

"It wasn't your fault." Lukas strolled over to the injured patient. He placed a firm hand on her shaky shoulders. She looked up at him.

Lukas froze.

Everything was coming back to him. A sense of familiarity washed over him. He could see you in those (e/c) eyes.

"Of course it is!" The patient yelled, swatting away Lukas' hand away from her shoulder. She looked back down.

"Calm down." He patiently mumbled. She took deep breaths and settled back down.

"I'm sorry. It was stupid of me to do that." She muttered, clearly embarrassed with a warm pink tint on her pale cheeks as she wiped the tears away.

"It's fine. It's normal for a patient like you to have outbursts." Lukas bluntly stated, causing a darker shade of red to swarm the patient's cheeks.

"Why...did you froze when you saw me earlier?" She asked out of the blue. Lukas' thin line of lips curled downwards into a slight frown.

"You… Your eyes remind me of someone I know." 'and loved' he bitterly added mentally, opting to swallow those words instead. Over the years, he had tried to make himself more approachable to other people, it was hard but he was starting to get the hang of it.

"These eyes....... They are a life changer." She muttered softly, playing with the blanket. Lukas raised a questioning eyebrow and sat down on the small chair provided next to the bed. He urged the young lady to continue.

"Before 4 years ago, when I was 12... I had been well...blind all my life. I lived in a quite remote area and had no incoming donation for them. And our finance problems didn't help either. One day though, the hospital I would regularly checked-up in told us that if I wanted to perform a surgery, as long as I can afford it, I could. Thankfully, our money income has just became stable... And here I am..." She spoke of it lovingly, with a gentle smile tilting her mouth. A small light grew in her eyes, gaining back a nostalgic feeling to Lukas, who had stayed quiet.

"Did you know about the donor?" He asked.

"I don't really know anything about her. The doctors didn't really give me any information except for the fact that.... She had died 4 years in a rail accident." She shyly muttered. Lukas grimaced.

"So whose eyes did mine remind you of?" She continued with a seemingly lighter topic.

"My…fiancee."

"Wow, she must be really lucky to have you." she genuinely smiled at Lukas, who in turn, had a sad smile.

"She.... She's not here anymore." He bitterly admitted. He couldn't deny the fact that you were gone anymore.

"O-oh I'm sorry." Lukas could hear the younger girl gasped in surprise after hearing him say that.

"It's fine. It was my own fault that she died anyways." Lukas stoicly mumbled out incoherent words. Why was he telling this stranger about his life? It was absurd he told himself.

"I'm sure she's happy. Wherever she is." Lukas didn't expected this girl, a girl that he had just known for less than 10 minutes to say that. To him nonetheless.

"Yeah. I hope so."

"I don't have anywhere else to go... No one to turn to. And it's all my fault." She sighed before bent her knees and encircled it with her hands before she buried her head in her knees, clearly in distress.

"I can take you in." The Norwegian blurted out without no second thoughts. The young girl beamed at him.

"Really?"

"Yes. I don't see any problems with it." He shrugged, watching as the female's eyes turned glassy.

"Thank you so much!" She yelled, pulling Lukas down into a hug. He stumbled a little but awkwardly placed a comforting hand behind her back.

The new Bondevik member never found out that Lukas didn't take her in as his sister because of pity. He took her in because he couldn't bear looking at the familiar eyes of his fiancee's dull, empty (e/c) orbs for the second time. And it will remain a secret until he was six feet under the ground.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

It wasn't an uncomfortable silence. It was more of a silence that was intentionally made. Lukas held his hand up to his sister, clad in a black suit. He never imagined this day would happen.

She grinned widely at him, her eyes shining brightly under the soft white light. She hooked her hands with him and started to walk forward. He could see the many faces in the crowd. Emil, Mathias, Tino, Berwald and many more of his sister's close friends.

Right in the very front, in the altar with the priest, was his lovely sister's fiancee. He couldn't believe his sister, in a very humble wedding dress, was getting married.

The walk to the altar was slow and elegant. The two siblings whispered their conversations, mainly with the excitement of getting married from the younger sibling. The translucent veil covered her pale face that was decorated with a big smile. That was the happiest day the youngest Bondevik had experienced in her life, maybe as happy as when Lukas had took her in years ago.

"Thank you." She lowly whispered to him, when she unlatched her hands from Lukas'. He stepped back and sat down on his respective chair, next to Emil who was smiling a little at his adoptive little sister.

Lukas watched silently as the couple said their vows, smiling a little when the two of them stared at each other's eyes with an unmeasureable amount of love.

A heart string ached. And an old memory re-emerged. His vision illusioned himself there, in the altar, holding your hands. He suddenly imagined your face, though clad in a translucent veil, smiling to him. And he would smile back. His imaginations ran wilder, allowing himself to imagine that you were saying your vows to him and he would say his.

"Until death do us apart."

A stray tear slid down Lukas' cheeks. A tear of longing; A tear of despair. But from the outside, it would forever be believed that it was only a tear of happiness shed for the younger sibling.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Lukas snapped back to reality; having more than enough time spent on thinking about his past. His sister was now married for two months and he was just getting used to live with only him, Emil and Mathias as the youngest female sibling had moved out to live with her husband. Just like how it used to be before you or his sister were in his everyday life. Unlike how it was full of laughter and obnoxious comments or brags from Mathias or even angry fumes from Emil and your cheerfulness, it was now more serene and peaceful in the house. Spare moments of quietness were now common; contrasting with the usual noises.

Lukas sighed. The night was still young. He had been watching the sunset; watching the dark blue slowly consuming the orange tint in the afternoon like an artist painting on a blank canvas, changing it into night before he started to daydream of his past. The moon slowly rose and gradually hung majestically in the cloudy sky. It was a lovely night.

He carefully leaned against the balcony; placing both of his elbows there. He watched as a soft breeze swayed the dark, thin branches of the trees in the house's front yard. The road leading to the house were practically invisible; engulfed with the darkness.

"It's going to be another anniversary of your death soon, maybe in a few days." He whispered to no one in particular, "I think I'll be visiting you this year."

All the years back since your death, Lukas had never had the courage to visit your grave. Emil, who would often visit your grave for some talking and advices or replacing your favourite flowers, would always try to make him go but never did he ever succeed. Maybe Lukas just wasn't ready to accept your death; wasn't ready to let you go.

He sighed once more as his body started to relax into the wind. "The wind is nice isn't it?" He mumbled once more, imagining you standing next to him, answering his useless chatters. Loneliness must have consumed him more than expected. Talking to the air is full of nonsense was what he used to thought of.

"Emil wanted to go to this dimsum bazaar where his friend, Kaoru was his name I think, was working. Should I let him go?"

"Oh. Tino and Berwald also said plenty of times that they wished they would have been able to meet you. Ironic isn't it?"

"The town's going to have a firework festival soon. Should I go with the obnoxious you-know-who or just stay at home reading your old diaries?"

"I wish you were here."

Lukas gazed at the widely spread stars on the sky with the full moon shining brightly, basking him with a soft glow. He turned his body and cradled his face with his hands, leaning slightly forward onto the railing. He took his sweet time, admiring the beautiful stars and trying to find the constellations.

A crash resonated from the house yet Lukas ignored it, humming your favorite song softly. "Owww!!" Mathias cried loudly, screaming profanities and many other colourful words at something Lukas didn't particularly care of.

"Lukas! Dinner is ready!" He heard Emil yell at him, as it was the Icelander's turn to cook for the household members. He continued humming, thinking that letting his family wait for dinner a little longer won't hurt. It wasn't long until his humming ceased to an end.

Lukas turned around and leaned behind, wiping the stray tears away, he wasn't a crybaby. He was an adult; a responsible adult. He pushed away from the railing, propelling himself properly. The wind blew harder, tickling his neck and ear with the swaying golden blonde strands.

The wind soothed him down, feeling the cool air calm him. He closed his eyes and felt the breeze waltzed through him, whispering the words of a lost beloved one. His eyes snapped open.

He slowly walked away from the balcony, letting the breeze play around with his hair again. He stopped in the middle of the foyer, closing his eyes once more and felt the wind whisper to his ears again. A hint of a smile was displayed on his lips again as he resumed his original pace back to the door. Upon reaching the sliding door of glass, he paused for a moment, muttering some words before he silently slipped inside the door and locked it.

Lukas might be delusional; he might as well been going crazy in his head but he knew that the gentle words he heard was not just an imagination, not just a fragment of an illusion. It was real and that was what he truly believed in.

As he entered the dining room, Mathias grinned at him, welcoming Lukas to his seat while Emil just rolled his eyes in annoyance. Lukas couldn't help but let a small chuckle went escape his lips earning looks of confusion from both Mathias and Emil, before they smiled and laughed with him. It was comforting; a warm nostalgic feeling.

Maybe Lukas could finally let your death be in the past now, feeling brave enough to move on. Maybe he was now ready to let you go.

Lukas felt a pressure on his right wrist and for a moment he swore he saw a flash of your smile and bright eyes once more before it disappeared as quickly as it showed up. His sapphire eyes widened and he had a small smile; the first ever genuine one he ever had for a long time. One that is for happiness and not grief, or sadness. Something that you had first taught him how to do.

"I miss you too."
